Audio: Tony Kornheiser suspended for Hannah Storm comments

Kornheiser: “Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. She’s got on red go-go boots and a catholic school plaid skirt … way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now…She’s got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body … I know she’s very good, and I’m not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won’t … but Hannah Storm … come on now! Stop! What are you doing? … She’s what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point.”

Kornheiser’s apology…

“I apologize unequivocally. … I was wrong. This is sort of what I do, and I’m sorry for it. … Not the first time and won’t be the last time but I apology for it this time.”

Sporting News: ESPN suspends Tony Kornheiser for remarks about Hannah Storm

Tony Kornheiser has been suspended as host of ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption” for comments he made on his radio show last week about Hannah Storm’s wardrobe, according to several media reports.

Kornheiser apologized to Storm after making the remarks.

An ESPN spokesman says he will be suspended “for some time,” which is expected to translate into a few days.

How can they suspend Kornheiser when he was absolutely right. The silly cow looks like something out of a Catholic school afternoon masturbation fantasy. What kid hasn’t imagined nailing a teenie bopper that looks like that?

I don’t know of anyone who things she looks good in that outfit. This wouldn’t look good in the 60′s generation.

    1. Women don’t belong in sports journalism, unless its the swimsuit issue. This incident is proof of that.

    2. If Hannah is so sensitive as to warrent Tony’s suspension, then its more proof she doesn’t belong in sports journalism.

    3. If Tony said these things about a man, nobody would care. Men can rib each other all they want; its normal and acceptable. Double standard for women shows they don’t belong in sports journalism.

    4. If Hannah doesn’t want to be made fun of for dressing stupidly, then don’t dress stupidly, or get a different line of work. If you don’t like stereotypes, then don’t be one.

    5. ESPN are pussies for taking the woman’s side of this. I’ve always hated ESPN — they are Disney after all — and now even more so. I much prefer a sports commentator who is free to speak his mind than a woman who’s feelings are intact. Fix your priorities ESPN/Disney. This is sports journalism, not Women Sensitivity journalism.

And if you disagree with me, the you are a p**** too.

All of us who are female and Hannah’s age know we walk a fine line trying to stay current in our clothing while at the same time not looking ridiculous by wearing a too-young trend. We ALL get it wrong from time to time. Hannah, you took a fashion risk, and unfortunately for you, your risk played out in front of a tv audience . It wasn’t the best look for you, but I’ve seen, and committed, worse clothing choice offenses. Tony voiced his opinion. It was crass. But it wasn’t worth a suspension. Move on.
