Via Politico…
Renowned newspaper columnist Charles Krauthammer just celebrated 25 years in the business.
The POLITICO Podcast asked him about his highs, lows and what, if anything, is his New Year’s resolution.
“I already regret having written it. People have been paying me tributes as if I’m dead. … It’s been like a wake!” Krauthammer laughed of announcing his 25-year anniversary in a column. “I think this is the last one I’ll do.”
Krauthammer says the person he loves debating most is journalist Michael Kinsley, who he describes as “one of the most honest intellects.”
The columnist is on Fox News frequently. Has it changed his life? “I get home later, the day’s longer – a 13-hour day,” he says, “but I don’t think so. I enjoy doing it, it’s a rare opportunity to pontificate in public everyday” and “it’s therapeutic … you don’t have to keep it in you volcanically overnight.”
As for a resolution? He laughed about “outliving the estate tax but apparently its going to die on January 1st. So, now I have to come up with a second goal,” he said.
He concluded that though he “historically breaks” New Year’s resolutions, this year’s resolution is “to remain civil.”
