Fox News: Fox News “Taking Up With Beck’s Agent” His Shilling For Gold
As News Hounds has previously reported, Glenn Beck’s apocalyptic histrionics and his touting gold investments just happen to fit in nicely with his financial relationship with his sponsor, Goldline International. But now, in the wake of a Politico story reporting about right-wing talkers’ golden (pun intended) relationships to gold, Fox News has decided to take up the matter with Beck’s agent, George Hiltzik. We ask, what took them so long and what about the other Fox News personalities who promote Goldline?
It seems that while Fox News prohibits its on-air talent from making paid product endorsements, it does allow its commenters who are radio hosts to do “live reads,” i.e. live ads on the radio. Beck has gone far over that line with Goldline. DailyFinance.com reports that the company says Beck is a “paid spokesman” for the company and his photo is prominently featured on the Goldline website.
