We are all hurting, and we finally have a president we can be proud of, yet between her, the republicans, and Sarah Palin, I feel many have just gone flat out insane.

The truth is Michelle Malkin is dead-on and Matt Lauer could not keep up with her on the facts. I was glad to see Katie Couric leave because she is the same way. The both of them look down on people who do not agree with their ideas/believes. Matt, perhaps you should leave the Today show too.

It’s a mistake to try to persuade people with anger and calumny. I agree with a lot of what Malkin said, but like Coulter, she ends up “preaching to the choir.”
Imagine if instead she had subtly set Matt up for an inability to contradict? Imagine if she had painted him into a corner with logic and a Socratic questioning model?
Here’s an example. I was in a debate with a man who said that the state policy of towing cars with outstanding unpaid tickets was… racist. His basis for this irrationality was… the preponderance of towed car owners were black.
I asked him about another population that was unfairly targeted. We were on the same page: then I told him, “Men are the ones whose cars are getting towed, 8 to 1.” He was completely nonplussed. He had nowhere to go… he had to admit that by his logic, if one group is reaping disproportionate enforcement, then this is evidence of bias, and thus the state was sexist, anti-male. Or, he would be forced to admit that a parking ticket is given to a car, not a driver, and so it is not racist or sexist, but a simple application of the law.
So. I wrote all this to say that a sparring match / pissing contest does NOTHING to persuade. The best tactic is to find agreement, use the logic inherent in a proposition to expose faulty reasoning, and get your opponent to make the admission himself. Malkin reinforced Lauer’s prejudice against conservatives, and did not win anything.

I cannot say that I agree or disagree with her writings, but I do disagree with what I have heard her say. If the purpose of the book is to blow the “whistle” and expose the unbiased truth about politicians that provide “mouth service” as opposed to actually “enacting services” beneficial to the the Ameriacn public then I would suggest she appear to be more open (and tolerant) to both sides of the parties. Point in case, she adamantly stated that she agreed with the war under the past administation so she did not feel the need to discuss and or expose possible inappropriate behaviors. That statement leads me to this question… who does she really want to read the book… people who are looking for the truth or just those that are partial to her version of the truth? Solutions require a civil factual meeting of the minds to prove or disprove one sided theories not the other way around.
And… by the way if this book has been 6 months in the making… he has only been in the office since the end of January… when did she start writing? When was there time for proofreading? Editing? Publishing? Marketing? Good grief, what type of person would read this type of book for factual information?
