It should also be mentioned that even though the Republican party collectively shares a negative opinion on gay rights and equal opportunities such as marriage, a majority of the sexually charged scandals and crimes committed by Republican individuals happen to be homosexual in nature.In 1980, Republican congressman Robert Bauman, was charged with statutory rape, when he picked up a sixteen year old boy, and had sex with him. Bauman was an anti-gay rights activist. Paul Ingram, a Republican party leader in Washington,admitted to six counts of rape, which he committed on his own daughters. In 1993, Ken Calvert, a Republican congressman, and of the Christian Coalition, was caught receiving oral sex from a prostitute, and attempted to run from the police.
