   Mandy- I would love for you to set out some reasons and beliefs of why it would be such a ’sad day’ for this country, and now that it has been 10 days in office, why the last 10 days have been so ‘SAD’.

   Agreed. you conservatives have put this nation on the edge of the abyss and the recent democratic congress of 2006-2008 did nothing to stop it. Our country’s education system is a mess and has left more children behind since before 2000. Unwanted teenage pregnancy rates, Sexually transmitted disease infections, and contractions of HIV are all up thanks to the dismantling of sex-ed in favor of abstinence only education (which by the way, is an example of the state forcing religious views upon the people). The government has sanctioned the wire tapping of journalists and political opponents simply to further their own political interests. They have justified torture of detainees, which is a violation of international statutes that themselves were born out of two horrific wars that devastated whole continents and left a combined 87 million human beings dead (by conservative estimate) and despite the fact that all experts in the field of coercion, compliance gaining, and interrogation procedures roundly reject any assumption that torture produces usable intelligence even in a “ticking-clock” situation. Not to mention that the nation was falsely led into the invasion of a sovereign nation (yeah, Saddam was a monster but since when do conservatives want the US to police the world?) Which reminds me, the logic of invading and occupying a country to prevent it from getting WMDs actually inspires more developing countries to seek them. We invade Iraq which turned out not to have any WMDs, but we leave North Korea, Iran, Pakistan, Syria, Belorussia, and all the other totalitarian ‘radical’ states to frantically get as many nukes as possible in order to deter any US invasion that might be pending… Oh, and MAD, Mutually Assured Destruction, still applies, the real threat is from Non-State actors such as Al-Queada, who would seek to detonate a nuke over a civilian target. Our trillion dollar Missile Defense shield is therefore useless. Then they fired US attorneys, non-political government officials charged with upholding the law. after all, the law is the foundation of our society. THey were fired for not prosecuting democratic candidates during election cycles on suspicious charges without required evidence simply to besmirch their campaign with suspect indictments. “Who is the King of America?…In America, the law is King.”~Thomas Paine
   This list goes on but i don’t want to waste any more of our precious time here.

   I know the argument, that these politicians have kept us safe for eight years. Well there weren’t any terrorist instances on US soil for the 8 years prior to the Bush administration either. Also, let us not forget that the single largest national security failure in United States’ history occurred eight months into the Bush presidency, shortly after the longest vacation ever taken within the first year of an incoming president’s first term in office concluded.

Oh wait – YOUR free speech won’t be touched – just those that disagree with him. Doesn’t seem like the America much. But that’s OK – you’ll still be gettin’ those handouts of MY money.

   let’s not forget that this multi trillion dollar deficit was a result of the economic policies of the past eight years. This mess is a result of the regulations that prevented banks from lending money to people that have no declared income, nor collateral having been deregulated.

   Also, it’s childish to think that the detainess are simply being released. They are being put on trial where the evidence that led to their detention will be used to convict them. Unless there is no evidence in which case they will be released because it’s immoral and unethic to arrest someone without charging them with anything; and if they return to their home country, radicalized and wishing to become terrorists-then that fault rests solely on the heads of the previous administration that illegally detained them to begin with.

   Also, all this talk about repression of the right to free speech is bewildering to me. If you are all implying that the resurrection of the Fairness in Broadcasting Act and its subsequent applications into the policies of the FCC is going to stifle free speech, then you are grossly exaggerating the consequences of the fairness doctrine and misrepresenting its effects.
   It simply requires that broadcasters (not web sites) who seek to discuss politically and publically controversial issues must do so in an honest, equitable, balanced manner. If you are opposed to discussing such topics in an honest and fair manner than that confirms what we already fear, that you can’t get people to agree with your opinions without speaking falsehoods, half-truths, omitting pertinent evidence, and simply speaking out-in-out lies. Your ideas will never carry any wieght in the marketplace of ideas if you need to manipulate your audience into believing falsehoods simply so that they will agree with you. It is disrespectful of other peoples’ autonomy and suggests that you believe that you know what is best for everyone else.

   PS: I do not recieve any form of government compensation. I suggest you look into how tax revenue is spent. YOUR MONEY, goes to the federal reserve, not to government entitlement programs. That money is generated elsewhere. Besides, corporations are the majority beneficiaries of welfare, claiming 80% of welfare spending annually. Agricultural, tax, and other subsidies are dispersed mostly to the wealthiest 10% of Americans, the underclasses recieve and much smaller percent. Its called the G.A.O. and if you were a responsible human being you’d support your opinions with evidence before deficating them all over the us.

    About the purchase of Obama’s home. Turns out Obama doesn’t own it, but it is owned by Rezko’s attorney. As far as the shady land deal, yeah, Michelle Obama is the main target of that investigation. Obama is tied to it also, but I won’t say why. Yes, Bush was right in issuing the last Executive Order that will knock Obama out of office.
